  Exam Adjustments

If you have a specific learning difficulty (such as dyslexia) or a health condition you may be entitled to apply for exam allowances such as extra time, the use of a scribe or reader, or the use of a pc.

Exam Adjustments for students with specific learning difficulties, sensory impairments or health conditions

If you have a specific learning difficulty (such as dyslexia), a sensory impairment or a health condition, you may be entitled to apply for exam allowances such as extra time, the use of a scribe or reader, or the use of a pc.

Any individual exam arrangements need to be organised well before exams start, so please make any enquiries about this as early as possible. There are also ‘cut-off’ dates for each set of exams and it will not be possible to arrange exam support that has not been approved before the cut-off date.

Please note the cut-off point for organising your exam allowances in place for Trimester 1 has now passed. Please check your exam allowances on your e-student record.

The following dates are the cut off points for getting any allowances in place during 2017/2018

Trimester Cut off date Exam weeks
1 23/10/2017 04/12/2017 to 16/12/2017
2 5/03/2018 23/04/2018 to 05/05/2018
3 23/06/2018 13/08/2018 to 24/08/2018

If you require exam allowances for future exam diets, please book an appointment with an Adviser through the iPoint – either in person or by email
ipoint@napier.ac.uk to discuss your options.

What to do on the day of your exam

If you have additional exam arrangements it is essential that you report to the staff based at the iPoints at either Craiglockhart, Merchiston or Sighthill foyer (depending on where your exam is due to take place) approximately 30 minutes before your exam.  The staff will be able to advise you of the room allocated to you; please note you will not always be allocated the same room.

What to do if you are unable to attend any of your exams

It is very important that you let Student Administration know as soon as possible if you are unable to attend any of your exams.  This can be done by emailing exams@napier.ac.uk. Failure to do any of the above may result in the withdrawal of additional allowances in future.
