Improvements to the laptops for loan service
In March 2022 we launched a new, improved laptop for loan service.

Improvements to the laptops for loan service
- You have access to newer laptops – we’re replacing 150 laptops of the 204 we currently have available.
- You can borrow a laptop for longer – the loan period has increased from 7 to 14 days.
- The way you log in has changed – you log in using your Edinburgh Napier email address and password bringing it into line with other University online services.
- You can connect to University Wi-Fi – you can connect to eduroam when on campus.
- You have easy access to University software – the Office 365 apps and MS Teams are pre-installed, you’ll also have access to all other University software via AppsAnywhere.
- The way you store your data has changed – your files are automatically be saved to your University OneDrive account rather than locally on the laptop. This means you can access your files from anywhere.
- You can connect your own headset - connect your own equipment via Bluetooth.
- The laptop is secure and can be locked – the laptop will be protected by Defender security and if the laptop is lost it can be locked in order to assist in its recovery. The laptop can also be locked when overdue for return ensuring that laptops are kept in circulation and available for use.
