However you travel, please ensure you are very clear of the facilities available and rules in place before you start your journey. Keep in mind that many public transport operators are running reduced services.

One ticket for Lothian Buses and Edinburgh Trams

If you are living in Student Accommodation and plan on using public transport to get around, we recommend using Lothian Buses.

Residents in Scotland under the age of 22 will be eligible for free bus travel from 31 January 2022. We will bring you more information about the scheme and how to register when more details are announced.

Before January, you can purchase a student travel card starting at £17 a week or £45 a month. This includes travel on Lothian city buses, NightBus services, airport buses, Lothian Country (city zone and cityWEST zone), East Coast Buses (city zones A and B) and Edinburgh Trams.

You can also download the Transport for Edinburgh app which helps plan your journey as well as giving real-time information on services around the city.
