SAAS update for 2025/26

SAAS funding applications for 2025/26 are now open, and we would encourage all continuing students to make their applications as early as possible to guarantee funding is in place for the start of your course.

There are a few changes to the funding package for Scottish students for the upcoming 2025/26 academic year:

  • Scottish students will benefit from a £2,400 increase to their annual support package from the 24/25 academic session. The Scottish Government recently announced a new Special Support Loan for full time students meaning the main undergraduate funding package will rise to a maximum of £11,400 per year (household income of less than £21,000) and the postgraduate funding package will rise to £13,900 per year.
  • You will also be able to choose to spread your payments over term time or over 12 months when you apply. Payments to students on a one year course, or final year students will automatically be made over term time.
  • For payments over term time, a double payment will be made at the start of your course and then monthly instalments across the rest of the months of the term. If you opt for 12 monthly payments, only one payment will be received at the start of your course, with 11 further monthly instalments.
  • Once you have made your preferred payment choice you will not be able to change this until you reapply the following academic year.
