Examination integrity
It is important that all students abide by the student conduct regulations when undertaking examinations. Exam answers will also be checked through Turnitin for originality.
Learn about what steps we take to ensure examination integrity, as well as the steps you can take to ensure your own academic integrity when it comes to exams and assessments.
Post-exam interviews
In order to ensure the integrity of the examination process, we undertake some post-exam interviews with a selected number of students.
If you are contacted for this reason, please be assured that the interview is not a test of you as an individual and is not something to be concerned about. The process is designed to provide us with information on how the student group as a whole engaged with the examination in the online space. It is therefore a quality assurance process which might be used by the Programme Assessment Boards when reaching their decisions on overall module results.
Essay mills and content writers
Essay mills are sophisticated and manipulative in their attempts to attract students and can appear to have been endorsed by the University, which they are not. Sadly there are many cases of such services threatening to blackmail students, leading to significant academic, professional and personal consequences.
Please remember that using such services is against the University's academic regulations and could result in you being permanently excluded from the University with the removal of credit.
More guidance around essay mills, including support available if you feel you have been a victim, is available on our Academic integrity page.
