Changes to software access and CyberLabs

As part of our ongoing work to modernise and improve digital services, AppsAnywhere is being replaced by Apporto.

All VMware vSoC CyberLabs are also being migrated to Apporto, providing a modern cloud-based environment for teaching and learning.

This change will provide a more user-friendly platform for delivering software and virtual learning environments across the University.

Apporto will become the University's primary platform for:

• CyberLabs
• Cloud-hosted teaching environments
• Virtual software delivery for students and academic staff

Locally installed software on managed devices will continue to operate as normal and you will continue to have access to the software you need for learning.

The move to Apporto brings a number of benefits:

• Reduced reliance on on-premises infrastructure.
• Improved service resilience and scalability.
• Access to the latest approved version of software whenever it is launched.
• Support for both Windows and Mac devices.
• Improved flexibility for accessing specialist software from different locations and devices.
• A better overall student experience through a modern cloud-hosted platform.
• Direct access to CyberLabs via Moodle.
