Essential library works at Merchiston campus
From Monday 18 May to Friday 4 September 2026, essential maintenance and improvement works will take place in parts of Merchiston campus. During this time, some areas will be closed and access will be limited.
Merchiston Library
During Trimester 3, works will affect access to Merchiston Library. You should expect some noise and disruption.
Library access from 18 May to 4 September 2026
- Zone 1 (the area near the helpdesk, including Group Study Room 8) will stay open.
- The library helpdesk will be open during normal opening hours.
- All other library areas will be closed, including quiet and silent study spaces and access to print books, journals and other items on shelves.
Accessing books and resources
- You can access many of our books and journals online using LibrarySearch.
- If you need print books from Merchiston Library, please request them ahead of time using the Click and Collect service, and library staff will have books ready for you near the helpdesk.
- Access to some items, such as print journals, may be limited. If this will cause you any issues, please email library@napier.ac.uk.
Please allow extra time, as there may be delays and limited access to certain areas during the works
Alternative places to study
- Jack Kilby Computer Centre (Merchiston)
- Libraries or computer suites at Craiglockhart or Sighthill
Silent study spaces are available at Craiglockhart and Sighthill. A family room is also available at Craiglockhart Library.
