Update on strike action

Over the past week, members of the University Leadership Team and representatives from the EIS (the University's recognised trade union who represent academic and research staff), have met to further discuss the University review of our current size and shape.

These discussions have progressed constructively, and the University and the EIS have agreed to work collaboratively to consider ways in which compulsory redundancies can be avoided.

The EIS had informed the University of plans for a further 15 days of industrial action commencing on 18 March and ending on 24 April. However, they have agreed to postpone action planned on w/c 16 and w/c 23 March to allow for talks to prevent any compulsory redundancies.

Regular dialogue will continue and we will keep you up to date with any outcomes.

In the event of any further strike action, we are committed to supporting students during this period and ensuring that you are not adversely affected. You can find more information about this in our FAQs.
