Sources of support

If you're looking to understand more about academic integrity or where to turn for support if you're worried about breaching the regulations, there are teams across the University who are here to help you.

Please don't be afraid of reaching out to ask for support - we want to make sure you have all you need to help you succeed.

Support with your studies

Academic and study skills

For more information on the academic support available to you, visit the Improve your academic and study skills page.

Referencing

The Referencing page provides all our School referencing guides, as well as information on preparing your assessments for submission.

You’ll also find a range of resources available through our Library Guides.

The library also provides a guide to reference management software and recommended university software.

Turnitin

Turnitin Feedback Studio is the software we use at Edinburgh Napier University to allow electronic submission of assignments, text similarity checking, and online marking and grading.

Visit our Turnitin page for more information, including a short video which has been designed to support your submission through Turnitin.

Proofreading

Checking your own work for errors and accurate referencing will set you up for success in your coursework and assessments. For some top tips on how to self-proofread your work, check out the QAA’s helpful study sheet.

Generative artificial intelligence tools

If you use an AI content generation tool as part of your academic work, you need to be very careful that you do not breach the academic integrity regulations by submitting work that is not your own.

You should always first check with your module leader or Personal Development Tutor about what – if any – use of Gen AI is allowed in your work.

Visit our Artificial intelligence tools page for more information.

Wellbeing support

If you're feeling overwhelmed, our Wellbeing and Inclusion team has a range of services and support available to help you make the most of your time studying with us.

  • If you're experiencing ongoing difficulties in your studies and would like help, talk to our Disability Inclusion team
  • If you're feeling unsettled and not sure whether University life is working out like you thought, speak to our Keep on Track Team

Reporting a breach of academic integrity

If you want to disclose a breach of academic integrity, either by yourself or somebody else, you can do so via our Report and Support platform, which allows all students and staff to disclose misconduct and seek support.

ENSA Advice

The Edinburgh Napier Students' Association (ENSA) provides independent and confidential advice to students and can support you through the academic integrity referral process.

If you have been asked to attend a meeting, an ENSA representative will be able provide advice and support you through this process.

Find out more by visiting the ENSA Advice website or emailing ensa.advice@napier.ac.uk
