Exam scheduling
Your exams may be held on campus or online. Each module has a specific format for exams, and this will be confirmed by your module leader and shown on your exam timetable.
When will my exams take place?
For many students, you will be asked to sit an exam at the end of some of your modules. These exams take place in two-week blocks (diets) at the end of Trimesters 1 and 2 and over a one-week block in Trimester 3. There is also a two-week reassessment (resit) exam diet in the summer to allow students who have missed an exam to catch up.
As exams may be scheduled at any time during the exam period, it is your responsibility to be available throughout, whether you are sitting an online exam or attending on campus.
- The start time for on-campus exams is either 9.30am or 1.30pm.
- The start time for all online exams is 11am (UK time). This should allow students studying Edinburgh-based modules but who are currently located overseas to engage at the same time as UK-based students.
It is important to check your personalised exam timetable carefully so you know when your exam will take place.
