The Visa and International Support team have arranged visa compliance checks in March. As part of our visa compliance regulations, student visa holders must attend a mandatory face-to-face check to verify the accuracy of our records and ensure that your studies are progressing as expected. Attendance is mandatory and not optional. Failure to attend may result in your non-engagement being reported to the Home Office and withdrawal from your studies.

 

Students that have been sent an email inviting them to attend need to attend – if you did not receive an email, you do not need to attend.

The check itself should take no longer than 10 minutes and please ensure to bring your passport with you.

What we do

We provide specialist advice various areas such as the below:

  • Visa applications, both within the UK and outside of the UK
  • Appropriate visas for studying/right to study checks for non-UK/EEA students
  • Visas for attending graduation
  • Issuing various letters for immigration purposes (employment, visas for travelling in Europe and for attending graduation)
  • All UK visa related matters for current students, including returning students following a break in studies and dependants
  • Visas for working in the UK during and after studies
  • License Compliance & UK Visas and Immigration Audit
  • Attendance monitoring of student visa holders

We also work closely with various teams at the University such as the Admissions team to provide immigration advice to new and continuing students when they apply to study at Edinburgh Napier University.

Final year student?

If you are in your final year of studies and hope to stay in Scotland after completing your studies, The Scottish Government have launched Scotland’s Migration ServiceAs part of this service, they provide appointments to international students in the following areas:

  • Visas and Immigration
  • Continuing studies
  • Working in Scotland

Stay safe from scams

Scams and frauds are crimes in which deception is used for personal gain, usually to make money or obtain information.

With technology improving, fraudsters are becoming more sophisticated. Many types of scams and frauds exist, including phishing, rental and parcel fraud, money muling, ticket fraud, fake job scams, purchasing essays and sextortion.

By understanding the motives and signs of various scams, you can protect your personal information from scammers who may operate across international borders. Please read the Police Scotland Student Online Safety Booklet for more information and help keep yourself protected against scams.
