 Academic Skills

As a university student, you want to get the most out of your studies and to develop as an effective learner. At Edinburgh Napier University we offer a range of workshops and one-to-one advice to help you to develop academic skills.  Support is offered in a variety of ways to suit your individual needs.

In trimester 1 the academic skills service will be mostly on-line. We offer guidance and advice on any aspect of your academic and study skills, for example planning and structuring essays, academic writing, using your sources effectively and academic integrity.

One to ones

Individual 30 minute video appointments will be held via WebEx and are available daily. Please go to myFuture to see times, availability and to book. We can also work with you via email. Please contact the team at academicskills@napier.ac.uk with any queries.

Open workshops

The open workshops will be delivered by WebEx as live sessions. You can find all the topics covered in the sessions and details to book on myFuture. We have also recorded a range of individual workshops and a series taking new students through each step of the tackling assignments process.

Additional resources

We have a great deal of guidance online to help you develop your independent learning and study skills. Please consult our myNapier pages where you will find a number of resources to help you including study skills sheets and the link to the interactive resource on our blog. Further information to help you prepare for university study may be found on the Get Ready site.
