Visiting our campuses Covid-19 FAQs

Will I have to wear a face covering on campus?

You will be required to wear a face covering when entering and walking around our campuses. This includes corridors, lifts, stairs, workshops, toilets, and teaching spaces. You may remove your face covering when seated when you attend lectures and tutorials.

If you are exempt from wearing a face covering, you do not need to.

Will I need to do a test before coming on to campus? Will I need evidence of this?

All students coming on to campus should arrange to have lateral flow tests, twice a week. This will help to protect your friends and fellow students, and prevent the spread of Covid-19. Lateral flow tests are free and can be ordered through the NHS Inform website.

Students do not need to provide evidence that they have been tested.

Will there be social distancing?

We will be employing one metre social distancing in our campuses. This will be in public spaces and in classrooms. This is to make our campuses as safe as possible for our students and staff.

Will my lecturers do tests too?

All Edinburgh Napier staff who regularly come on to campus are also being advised to arrange to have lateral flow tests, twice a week.

As with students, we are not asking staff to provide proof, but we have been making staff aware of the importance of being regularly tested.

Will there be improved ventilation?

All our classrooms have been assessed for ventilation and meet the guidelines. We have forced ventilation in use, and this is supported by natural ventilation through opening doors and windows.

Will rooms be cleaned before and after classes?

Yes, there will be a 30-minute turnaround period for cleaning and ventilation purposes between the use of each room. Students should also wipe down their desk before and after use as this will help reduce the chance of spreading Covid-19 even further. Wipes will be supplied in each of the teaching spaces.

How do I book a PC or study space on campus?

Resource Booker is the quick and easy way to book study space, PCs and many other services provided by the University. You can find out more about Resource Booker on My Napier.

Can I use the lifts?

Please only use the lifts if you feel you need to. The lifts will be available, but with a very limited number of people being able to use them at once. The capacity will be posted on the lift. Please use the stairs if you can do so, to prevent queuing outside lifts.
