Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update - Summer Graduations

It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce that our summer 2020 graduation ceremonies in Edinburgh’s Usher Hall are to be postponed due to the impact of the coronavirus.

Graduation ceremonies are the highlight of our academic year but we have taken this difficult decision for the safety of our students and staff.

If you were due to graduate this summer, you should register to graduate in absentia, and you will be given the opportunity to return, if you wish, to attend our autumn graduations and celebrate with your family and friends.

You will be sent an email advising you of how to apply to graduate in absentia, so please do watch out for this message.

We know that this will come as very disappointing news but we hope that you understand that this decision could not be avoided.

It is in line with the current position of the UK Government to postpone all large gatherings and is consistent with other universities around the country.

Our approach means that if you are due to graduate, you will still have your award conferred in the summer, and you’ll be given the opportunity to celebrate your successes with your fellow students, staff, and loved ones, on a future date.

Please watch out for future communications advising you of how to go about doing this.

We would once again like to apologise for the disappointment this will have caused you all. We are aware that you have put in a tremendous amount of work and effort to complete your qualifications, so please do be assured that you will still have the opportunity to celebrate once these difficult times are behind us.

If you have any further questions about graduations, please email.
