Engaging in counselling offers you the space to explore, process and set goals relating to all aspects of your time as a student. It can help you to build emotional resilience when dealing with feelings, such as anxiety and depression. You can benefit from support and opportunities to explore personal and relationship difficulties and to develop new resources and coping strategies in a safe space. With your permission they can also liaise with other Wellbeing and Inclusion staff, academics, other professional services, external agencies and GP’s.

We will offer a first appointment where we will assess your needs together and find the most suitable support either within our team or external to the University. If suitable for counselling we can offer 5 counselling appointments

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a mind-body approach to addressing and managing stress and anxiety. It is based on traditional meditation practices that emphasise present moment awareness rather than worrying about the future or regretting the past. Mindfulness is widely used across the globe in many different settings and there is strong research evidence in helping people to better manage stress, anxiety and depressive illness.

You can access Mindfulness Drop-in sessions as well as signing up for regular Mindfulness programme during term time.
