  Chaplaincy

As a result of the Covid 19 pandemic our Chaplaincy, like all other university services, is now operating differently. Many of our team of honorary Chaplains remain available and their contact details can be found, along with other local Churches and religious organisations on the myNapier, Places of worship page. Our Chaplaincy aims to offer support to students and staff and remains available to you during these worrying times.

Make connections and feel supported

For students and staff from all faiths and from none, the Chaplaincy service helps you to share time, ideas and friendship. We believe that spiritual wellbeing is important and the Honorary Chaplains and Belief Contacts that make up the team represent many of the main world religions and promote a multi-faith and belief approach.

You can contact members of the Chaplaincy team and seek spiritual or practical support during the Covid 19 pandemic period. We understand that many staff and students will be affected by this in many ways – and our team of honorary Chaplains are very experienced in responding and offering suport in difficult and stressful times.

What we do

The Chaplaincy team provides a service designed to offer support.

We are that listening ear and can offer personal support for a wide range of matters. We can also be the link to other professional support services if you are having difficulty reaching out to them or we feel that you could be better supported there. We are here for the whole University and offer a developing range of activities designed to build and support our community and to help reflect on life events and spiritual matters.

The team is made up of a diverse group of Honorary Chaplains and Belief Contacts including representatives from the Church of Scotland and other local churches, the Edinburgh Roman Catholic Chaplaincy, Scottish Jewish Chaplaincy, and contacts from Baha’i, Buddhist, Hindu, Humanist, Orthodox, Muslim, Pagan and Sikh communities.

During the current period our services are affected by the need to social distance and all our normal services, celebrations and other ceremonies have been affected by this. Please check the web pages of the individual faith groups here. Many of the organisations listed there are delivering regular services via video conferencing channels or on social media.

We welcome everyone

We provide a non-judgemental and welcoming service to all and do not discriminate against anyone based on age, gender, disability, ethnicity, gender reassignment, religion, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic.
