We understand there's a lot of information and guidance regarding Covid-19, and you may be finding it difficult to find the answers you're looking for. To make things easier for you, we've compiled a list of frequently asked questions for various areas across the University to help you find the information you need.
General FAQs
What should I do if I think I may have Covid-19?
Please follow the advice available on NHS Inform. They will be able to advise you of the latest guidance on what to do.
Do I have to wear a face covering on campus?
Face coverings are no longer legally required in indoor spaces including all our university premises; however, the Scottish Government strongly recommends that you continue to wear a face covering in crowded and enclosed spaces.
Is there social distancing on campus?
We have removed our social distancing requirement when on campus, but please continue to follow the Scottish Government's 'Covid sense' guidance.
I’m concerned that recent events have affected my mental health. What resources does the University have available to help me?

Accommodation FAQs
Do I need to self-isolate when I arrive at accommodation?
Scotland's travel rules for people arriving from abroad have now ended. If you’re arriving in Scotland from another country, you do not need to:
- complete a Passenger Locator Form
- take any COVID-19 tests before you leave for Scotland, or after you arrive
- isolate when you arrive

How can I get tested for Covid-19?

Can I have guests over or visit another flat?
You can visit other people and have guests over. However, everyone should continue to act carefully and remain cautious.

What support is available to me?
We have a team of accommodation staff and resident assistants who are here to support you with what you need. Please check your kitchen noticeboard for details or visit our Accommodation Contact Us page.

International Students FAQs
Do I need to come to Edinburgh to study my course?
It's important that you travel to Scotland to take part in your learning with us. You will be able to get vaccinated when you arrive, and we have safety measures in place to make learning with us as safe as possible.
All students are expected to be in Edinburgh for the start of the trimester so that you are ready and able to make the most of your studies with us. You will have face-to-face classes that you are expected to attend, which will not be replicated online.
Will I need to quarantine or self-isolate on arrival into the UK?

Can I get a Covid-19 vaccine in the UK?
The Scottish Government has confirmed that you will be eligible to receive the Covid-19 vaccine on arrival in Scotland. When you arrive in Edinburgh, it is important that you register with a doctor as soon as possible.
