Data Challenge 2025

Are you ready to put your data skills to the test and make an impact? The Data Challenge invites undergraduate students at Edinburgh Napier University to explore and analyse open data from Scotland in the domains of health, education, and climate.

With a top prize of £1,000 up for grabs for the winning team, you'll be able to:

  • Work on real-world data challenges that matter
  • Compete for exciting prizes and recognition
  • Develop skills in data analysis, visualization, and storytelling
  • Enhance your CV and portfolio with a project that demonstrates impact

You will choose a topic within the themes of health, education, or climate action, formulate a research question, and use Scotland's open data to analyse information, uncover trends, and develop data-driven solutions to the problem you identify.

The event takes place in the Jack Kilby Computing Centre at Merchiston campus from 4pm on Friday 21 March to 4pm on Sunday 23 March. All sessions will close each day (overnight stay is not expected!) but catering will be provided.
