Merchiston room works
Please be aware that contractors will be carrying out work to develop our working and teaching environment at Merchiston campus over the next couple of months.
Work will begin shortly to:
- Convert A3 from an existing store to a new hot desking space, retaining the existing storage space at the rear of the room
- Convert A4 from the existing technicians' office to a new journalism classroom
- Develop A43 + A44 journalism space by provision of additional furniture and AV
- Convert B21 from a former shop to new model making space
- Convert B32 from a general teaching space to become a graphic studio
- Convert C8 from an existing office to a new technicians' office
- Convert C9 to become a new general teaching classroom, replacing G9
- Convert D74 Mac lab to new digital modelling studio
- Convert E07 from graphic space to become new general teaching space, replacing B32
- Convert E08 from graphic space to become a new PC lab
- Convert G9 from general teaching space to become a new acting space
The works mainly involve minor decoration, moving and replacing furniture, installing audio/visual equipment and changes to power and data.
You may find some restrictions to corridors during the furniture moves, but we are working with our contractors to ensure this will be timed to minimise disruption. Parking will also be affected, as our Merchiston car park will be used by the contractors for storage and unloading.
Thank you for your patience while we carry out these works. The full project is due to be complete for the start of Trimester 1, and we look forward to the benefits the new space will bring to the teaching and working environment at Edinburgh Napier.
