Reaffirming our commitment to inclusion

We understand that some members of our community may be feeling unsettled following the recent Supreme Court ruling on the legal definition of key terms under the Equality Act 2010. We also recognise that there are many questions about what this means in practice.

Like many organisations across the public sector, we are awaiting updated guidance from the Equality and Human Rights Commission to help us understand the full implications for our University and community. It's important that we take the time to ensure any response is well considered and appropriate.

At Edinburgh Napier, we celebrate the diversity of our community. We want everyone to feel confident that this is a supportive and respectful place to work and study. Our community is strongest when we support and care for each other in challenging and uncertain times—and we remain committed to being a place of safety for all.

We ask all members of our community to conduct themselves in line with our University values.

If you have concerns or need support, our Student Wellbeing and Inclusion team is here for you. Edinburgh Napier students can also access free, anonymous, online support with Togetherall.

If you experience any form of harassment or discrimination, you can report this through Report & Support, either anonymously or to a trained adviser.

We will continue to keep you informed as more information becomes available.
