Volunteer Opportunities at COP26

Edinburgh Napier University will be in Glasgow during COP26 this November, based at the Strath Union as part of the Learn and Grow Hub. This is a huge undertaking, and we would really appreciate any volunteers we can get to help with various jobs throughout the two-week period.

COP26 runs from Monday 1 November to Friday 12 November and we're looking for volunteers on the weekdays only.

Transport will be provided, or reimbursed, from central Edinburgh to and from site each day. Please be advised, this is a volunteer opportunity meaning you will not be paid, and it should not interrupt your academic learning. However, it will be a great opportunity for students so we encourage you to help where you can.

Below you will find a list of volunteer roles which we are looking to fill every day. If you are able to help, please send an email to r.naysmith@napier.ac.uk stating what roles you’d be interested in and your available dates.

Volunteer Roles:

Supervising VR Experience

VR headsets will be used on site, we need supervisors to make sure all tech runs smoothly. You will be shown how to use the equipment at the start of the session.

Supervising Fortnite Experience

There is a sustainability focussed Fortnite tournament being held during COP26 by Brave Junior. We will have a space at Strath Union dedicated to this which will need to be supervised.

Directing school visits

  • Collecting schools from buses/trains on arrival
  • Make sure they are comfortable and familiar with the site
  • Supervising visits and there to answer any questions
  • Direct them to speaker sessions etc

Wayfinding in Glasgow

  • Flyering/directing people to the site
  • Draw in as many people as possible

Supervise free flow area

Lots happening in this area and it’s the first section that visitors will interact with. Be there to explain/direct/supervise visitors to ensure smooth running of space.
