Student Exchanges Covid-19 FAQs

Exchanges will be going ahead in the 2021/22 academic year. Please ensure that you have completed a travel risk assessment which is signed off before you travel by the Global Mobility Team.

You must adhere to the travel restrictions and policies put in place by your host country regarding vaccinations and quarantine periods. For those affected by partners cancelling exchanges due to Covid restrictions in those countries, the Global Mobility Team will contact you directly to discuss alternative options.

Will student exchanges be taking place in Trimester 2 of 2020-21?

After due consideration for student well-being and academic progress, the University has made the decision to suspend student exchanges in Trimester 2.

Why has this decision been taken now?

After a reduction in Covid-19 cases over the summer period, cases are now increasing again in Europe and North America especially, with local and national lockdowns in many countries. UK travel restrictions and public health bodies advise against travel to most parts of the world, and many countries have restrictions on entry.

My course has a compulsory mobility element. How will this be met?

Students on a programme with a compulsory mobility element have received an email from the Global Mobility team outlining the academic mitigation measures put in place for their programme.

Who should I contact if I want to speak to someone at the University about this?
