Professorial Lecture - Understanding Lives, Shaping Practice

At Edinburgh Napier, one of the largest centres for nurse education, we are uniquely placed to help shape changes in nursing. Join us for an evening with Iain Atherton, Professor of Nursing & Data Science in the School of Health & Social Care, as he explores how data and education can drive meaningful change in future of the profession.

In this talk, Iain will present his research linking the nursing register with the 2021 census, revealing how community contexts shape professional experiences and how a data-informed, human-centred approach can help shape a resilient and compassionate workforce.

He'll also share his passion for teaching, highlighting strategies that foster curiosity, independence, and innovation in nursing students.

The lecture will be followed by a celebratory drinks reception, where you'll be able to connect with peers, gain fresh perspectives, and reflect on the future of care in the UK.
