What is Humanism?

You are warmly invited to an engaging discussion on Humanism with Tim Maguire, the University’s Honorary Humanist Chaplain, on Wednesday 12 March from 12.15pm to 1.30pm in room C18 at Merchiston campus.

This event offers an opportunity to explore the principles and impact of Humanism, a belief system that emphasises reason, compassion, and human dignity. Tim will discuss its historical roots, its influence on society, and how it shapes perspectives on morality, knowledge, and human potential. Through this session, you will gain insights into Humanism’s relevance in contemporary issues and everyday life.

The event is informal, and you are welcome to bring your lunch. Tea and coffee will be provided.

This session is hosted by the University’s multi-faith and belief Chaplaincy, which supports colleagues and students of all faiths, and none.
