Endnote 2025 – New version of Endnote
We are pleased to announce that the University now supports EndNote 2025, the latest version of the reference management software.
From Monday 29 September, EndNote 2025 will be available to install on University devices from the Company Portal or on personal devices using the Software Download Service.
What’s new?
- Cite directly from PDFs - Highlight a quote in a PDF and insert it, along with citation, into your document with one click.
- AI Key Takeaway - Automatically summarises “key takeaways” from articles and PDFs (remember University AI guidance at: GenerativeArtificial Intelligence tools and your learning)
- Find a Journal (FaJ) – Now integrated into Cite while you Write (for Word Online and Google Docs only, not the Word Desktop plugin).
- Redesigned summary panel
Do I need to update now?
You can continue to use any older versions of Endnote if they are already installed on your device, but we would recommend installing Endnote 2025. Please follow the instructions on the Reference Management LibGuide. After installation you may be asked if you wish to use an existing library. You will need to locate your current library .enl file or .enlx file (if you have created a compressed back-up file).
Training and support
The updated Reference Management LibGuide gives you step-by-step instructions how to install Endnote 2025 on your University managed device or your own personal device.
Endnote 2025 training sessions will be available from October. Book now using the Training and Events Calendar.
