Fire alarm evacuations - car park safety

Following the fire alarm at Sighthill campus earlier this week, we want to remind everyone about safe behaviour during an evacuation.

During this incident, there were reports of vehicles driving through the car park while staff, students, and visitors were moving to the designated assembly points. Some vehicles also left the car park during the evacuation when there were large numbers of people in the area.

For everyone's safety, no vehicles should enter or leave the car park during an evacuation until all staff, students, and visitors have safely re-entered the building. This is a crucial part of keeping evacuation procedures safe and orderly.

Fire wardens work hard to manage these situations and provide clear instructions, but unfortunately these instructions are not always followed. We ask all drivers to be patient and respectful during evacuations, and to follow the guidance given on the day.
