Booking and attending appointments

Booking your appointment

You can view our availability and book your required appointment on myFuture. If there are no suitable appointments available to you, please complete our appointment request form where we will get in touch with you as soon as we can to arrange a suitable time.

Please ensure you attach any relevant documents e.g. CV, job description.

Be prepared for your appointment

To get the most out of your appointment, we recommend that you:

  • Arrive on time to maximise the full time of your appointment
  • Check the time and location of your appointment
  • Decide on no more than two specific topics you would like to discuss
  • Think about what you want to reasonably achieve in the booked time
  • Check out our online resources to help you get started

What to expect from us

A Careers Development Consultant may try to:

  • Help draw out your priorities, values and expectations.
  • Gently challenge your motivations.
  • Encourage you to reflect on what you have done already.
  • Help you to develop your understanding of your chosen paths.
  • Help you to weigh up your options.
  • Make suggestions about potential resources, strategies, sectors or pathways.
  • Provide answers to some straightforward questions.

What we don't do:

  • Tell you what to do. We are impartial and non-directive in our professional and friendly approach.
  • Do all the research for you, we can tell you where to start and offer you some direction.
  • Make a decision for you
  • Approach employers on your behalf
  • Offer visa advice - we would advise you to speak to our International Support team

After your appointment

To make the most of your appointment, we recommend that you:

  • Complete any actions you agreed in your meeting
  • If relevant, book into another appointment once you have completed your actions to discuss your next step

If you are no longer able to attend your appointment

We ask that you cancel your appointment if you are no longer able to make your appointment, as this allows for other students to make use of the time slot. You can do this via your myFuture account.
