Text message alerts to keep you safe on campus

From 13 December 2024, we will be introducing a new mass communications tool in order to send SMS messages to students and staff in case of a serious incident or emergency.

The emergency messages will be sent via the SafeZone security platform directly to your phone via text.

In the coming days, you will receive a prompt to download the SafeZone app. This is voluntary—you do not need to download the app to receive emergency messages. However, we do strongly encourage all students to download the app, as it connects you directly to our Edinburgh Napier 24-hour security team, helping you to keep yourself and others safe on campus.

This mass communications function will only be used for major incidents or emergencies where there is a critical need to contact you quickly and directly, such as a campus evacuation, potential terrorism incident or a serious threat to student safety.

We are committed to keeping our University community safe, and this new tool will allow us to provide you with critical emergency updates and information as quickly and directly as possible.

Please make sure your existing mobile contact number is up to date by visiting eStudent records.

For more information on how mass communications will be used, please view our SafeZone Privacy Policy.
