In-sessional English Language Support
Are you a student who speaks English as your 2nd, 3rd, 4th language? Do you speak English as your 1st language but are from a different educational system to the UK?
We are here to help you with your Academic English and thereby help you become more familiar with the expectations of the UK system.
In-sessional English Language Support is free.
In-Sessional English Language support is run by the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) department. Our tutors have years of experience in supporting students and helping them to improve their English. Please enrol on our Moodle page.
The In-sessional English Language Support we offer consists of:
- Writing Workshops
- One-to-one Support Sessions
Writing workshops are two hours long and will usually be divided into two parts:
Part 1 (1 hour):
In the first hour you will be introduced to the topic of the workshop through presentations and activities.
Part 2 (1 hour):
In the second hour you can choose to either complete a practice writing exercise and receive feedback (in the following workshop) and/or bring along an assignment you are writing and work on that/receive feedback (where possible).
For trimester 1 of 2022/23, Writing workshops will take place face-to-face on Craiglockhart campus. If you would like to be enrolled, please email EAP.Enquiries@napier.ac.uk and give your full name, Napier ID and programme of study. Once enrolled, you are expected to attend the workshops every week until week 13 of the trimester.
One-to-one Support Sessions
If you need more personalised support with your academic writing, you can book a one-to-one Support Session. These sessions are 30 minutes long and give you the opportunity to discuss your written work with one of our tutors.
For trimester 1 of 2022/23, there will be a mixture of online and face-to-face one-to-one Support Sessions. The online sessions will be carried out via Webex, and the face-to-face sessions will take place in room 1/107 on Craiglockhart campus. To book a one-to-one Support Session, you should email: EAP.Enquiries@napier.ac.uk. You can book a maximum of three sessions per trimester.
