One-click access with LibKey Nomad

Add the LibKey Nomad browser extension to intelligently connect to Library content from open web searching.

How does LibKey Nomad work?

  • Checking Amazon for a book? LibKey Nomad will automatically highlight for you whether ENU Library has the ebook.
  • Searching for articles using Google? LibKey Nomad will give you one-click access to ebooks, full-text articles from library-subscribed journals, and open access journals.

You can access ebooks and articles directly from search results or free databases like PubMed, without needing to go through LibrarySearch or sign into journal websites.

We still recommend LibrarySearch as the best place to start to access Edinburgh Napier University Library resources, but adding this browser extension can help save you time wherever you are on the web.

Sites like Google, PubMed, ResearchGate and Wikipedia are convenient places to start your research and look for scholarly and scientific articles. But often times, the search results lead to webpages where the articles are locked behind paywalls, preventing access to information important to your research. The new LibKey Nomad browser extension unlocks this paywalled content, seamlessly connecting you to millions of articles made available to you through your library, whether you are on-site or working remotely.

While viewing publisher pages, Research Gate and others, when access to an article you are viewing is available, the LibKey Nomad button appears in the lower left. Simply click on this button and LibKey Nomad will link you directly to the article. When visiting sites like PubMed, Wikipedia, Scopus and others, LibKey Nomad adds extra in-line enhancements to the webpage meaning the linking is also available directly from the search results. It also includes cover images to help you quickly identify an article from a favourite source and links to show you an article in its originally published context, potentially leading you to other relevant articles.

In the case where an electronic version of the article is not available, LibKey Nomad will direct you to the options your library provides in delivering you a copy. LibKey Nomad is easy to install and available for Chrome, Edge, Firefox and other popular browsers. Simply navigate to libkeynomad.com and click on the appropriate browser icon to get started.
Once installed, select your organization and you are ready to go. No user account is needed.

Designed to protect your privacy, LibKey Nomad does not store your credentials and it is active only on selected, scholarly websites. LibKey Nomad connects you to the wealth of journal content made available from your library, no matter where you start your research journey.
