A message from the Principal

Following the deeply upsetting events in Manchester yesterday, I want to express my heartfelt solidarity with our Jewish community – and with everyone across Edinburgh Napier who may be feeling unsettled or distressed.

There is no place for violence or hatred in our society. Edinburgh Napier stands firmly for inclusion, support and safety. We unequivocally condemn any form of violence or intolerance toward any group and have clear processes in place to address any incidents, working closely with relevant authorities when needed.

The University’s Report and Support service allows you to report any incident you have been subject to or witnessed. You can also report this to Police Scotland or to Victim Support.

We encourage students to download the free SafeZone app, which connects you directly to our Edinburgh Napier 24-hour security team and allows you to send location-based alerts to campus security whenever you need first aid, emergency response, or general assistance.

Our Wellbeing and Inclusion team is here to listen and offer support so you feel safe and supported during your time with us:

  • If you need mental health support, our Counselling and Mental Wellbeing team offers a number of services, including single session therapy.
  • Edinburgh Napier students can access free anonymous online support on a range of mental health and wellbeing issues by signing up to Togetherall.
  • Our Multi-Faith Chaplaincy service is available to students during these worrying times, and provides a listening service designed to offer support and a sense of community. The service is open to those from all faiths and from none.

Please look out for one another and don’t hesitate to get in touch if you need support.

Kind regards,
Sue Rigby
Principal & Vice Chancellor
