Introducing our Libraries
Welcome! We know you have a lot on when you first arrive at university, and we want to help you get started with our library resources.
Join us on one of our quick and friendly introduction sessions – it’s a great way to get ahead in finding what you need for your course work and assessments.
Sessions are available online every week at the start of trimester.
Getting started with using the Library
The university library is a vital resource to support your studies.
Join a Getting Started with Using the Library workshop to learn how to find books and journals using LibrarySearch, find citations to reference in your essays and assignments, connect to key services and become more familiar with our Library spaces.
All sessions are delivered online using MS Teams. Workshops can cover either:
- Online Library - How to find resources online.
- Online and Campus Library - these sessions will show you how to find items online, and also how to find books and use services in the campus libraries in person.
Book a Personalised Library Tour
Whether it is just for you, or you want to book a tour with a few friends, we are happy to show you around our Libraries at a time that is suitable for you.
You can book a place, in any of our campus libraries by completing a Personalised Library Tour form.
Some of the things we will tell you about will include:
- How to connect to Eduroam and use the University App.
- How to use the machines in the libraries like our printer/scanners, self-service checkouts and laptop loan safes.
- How to search for and find books.
- Our group study rooms and how to book them, collaborative desks, and relaxation areas.
But please feel free to ask anything else you want to know, either when completing the form or when you come to meet us in the library.
Watch our Welcome to the Library video
Welcome to our new students. This is a quick introduction on where to go to find library information.
You can find everything you need on My Napier under the library button. You'll use LibrarySearch to find ebooks and journal articles. You can also find information about your libraries, like when they're open, what's in each library and the subject guide for your subject. These are created by your subject librarian to help you find the best resources for your particular subject.
Down at the bottom, you'll see the Drop ins and Events Calendar. This is for if you want to find a webinar to learn more.
If you want to request books to pick up at one of our physical libraries, use click and collect. You can also book Group Study Rooms using Resource Booker.
Moodle is the place that you go to find all of your course information and reading lists.
We're looking forward to meeting you at our campus libraries or online at one of our learning events soon.
