Wellbeing Collection

Our Wellbeing Collection provides a specially chosen collection of books, films, and apps to help you overcome experiences, thoughts, and feelings that can be stressful or uncomfortable. Use the Wellbeing LibGuide to find information, advice, and personal stories that deal with topics such as living with anxiety and depression, to coping with exam stress, to romance and sexuality.

How does it work?

Someone from the Counselling and Mental Wellbeing team or the Disability and Inclusion team may recommend one of these books for you to read, or you may want to choose some for yourself.

Some of these books are available for you to read online, while others are available to borrow from your campus library. If you need help locating or requesting a book please ask a friendly member of Library staff, who are always happy to help.
Your book requests and reading history are completely confidential.

Can reading a book really help me?

There is good clinical evidence that self-help books can support people in understanding and managing common conditions and stressors. You can use these books on their own, but the Wellbeing Collection often works better with support from trained health professionals, such as a counsellor, therapist, or GP.

What if I need more help?

There’s no need to struggle on your own! You might find it easier to talk things over with a trusted friend, relative, or colleague. And remember that help is always available at Edinburgh Napier University through our Counselling and Mental Wellbeing service.
