Summer Graduations

Due to ongoing uncertainty caused by the pandemic we will be unable to host our usual ceremonies in the Usher Hall in July 2021. Although there has been positive news from the Scottish Government recently around opening up more of society, it is very unlikely that mass gatherings on this scale will be allowed as early as July.

Like other universities across Scotland, we have therefore made the difficult decision to cancel our ceremonies.

Graduations 2021

While there will be no ceremony, we want to shout about our students’ success. We want to make graduation memorable despite the challenging circumstances we all continue to face.

So, while we cannot get you up onto the Usher Hall stage, we will be celebrating in style this July and we will share the full details nearer the time. We don’t want to say too much at this point and ruin the surprise, but suffice to say, our students’ name will most definitely be out there.

If you are eligible to graduate in July 2021, you will have two options to choose from:

  1. You can graduate in absentia and receive your parchment in the post.
  2. You can graduate in absentia and participate in the virtual celebration that the university is offering. You will also receive your parchment in the post.

You will receive an email inviting you to apply to your Napier email address. If you do not receive an email and believe that you are eligible, please contact

The closing date to apply for graduation is Monday 21 June 2021.

Publication of results date is Wednesday 30 June and you will receive further information regarding the virtual celebration on that date.

Please note that there is no option to defer your graduation to a later date.

Beyond this summer, when restrictions are lifted, we hope to give you the opportunity for photographs on campus and for a class of 2021 reunion where you will be able to celebrate with your classmates.
